Our Cycles are in Sync

“Our cycles are in sync.” Under the light of a full moon, truer words were never spoken. I can say that, because they were my words. I can also say that “everything is gelatinous” are also incredibly true words even though they were not mine, and yes everything is gelatinous. Such are the little gems of knowledge expounded when you get together with your friends for a vacation away and somehow manage to leave the 13 children represented back at home.

The brief and boring history is that sometime during our years at high school we became friends and our friendship has stuck through college, weddings, children, and thankfully that is where our journey is sitting right now… mostly the good stuff. Yesterday we found ourselves sitting around Ford International Airport getting ready for the adults only trip we had been planning for years. Perhaps longer. After a 4:30am wake call and drive to the airport we were ready, but a short layover at O’hare had the group a little stressed. How is it that airlines expect individuals to make 17 minute journeys in 9?

Thankfully the pilot used his nitrous and we made it in plenty of time to enjoy mom’s snack bag. In this case, mom is Renee. “Normal” people would pack small snack bags for traveling, but not this mom. Full blown giant size Cheese-Its made the journey with us. After our snack cracker extravaganza we boarded the plane for Mexico, the trip had finally begun. Flights are boring, so we watch moves like the Joker, which is quite dark, read, slept and even conned the stewardess into buying Kevin a birthday drink… because it was his birthday after all.

Upon arrival we were greeted with what all travelers want to see. Spiderman and long lines through Immigration. The irony in it all is that for all the time we waited (60+) minutes, we basically got waived on through. Except for the guy who tried to get through customs without pushing the button. The kind lady instructed him to push the button and he got flagged and had to put his bag through the scanner. Burn!

Finally, we arrived. Look how happy we are!

The resort did a great job of welcoming us with food and ushering us to our rooms with as little physical efforts on our parts as they could. Don’t they know we have Apple Activity rings to close? By this time it was nearly 4:00pm and we all needed food. Desperately. A quick trip to get a ‘plain’ burger and we were fed and happy. The rest of the night consisted of exploring, relaxing, and general good times.

There is and will be more to the story, but that will wait for another day. Here are a few more highlights of the night.
