This afternoon my elderly neighbor was driven off by his realtor to a hotel. Tomorrow he flies to his new home in Minnesota, near his son in a slightly assisted living home.

Often he'd come over at the worst possible times. Kids screaming, arriving home late after an afternoon out, right in the middle of mowing the lawn. Often he just wanted to talk. He was lonely. Two years ago he came home from Florida alone, without his wife... not sure what happened to her.

At any rate I find myself wondering if I should've made more time to talk to him. Seems like it would have been the right thing to do, though I'm not sure where I would've found the time.

Perhaps it is time to recheck my priorities.
