In 2016 my goal, not resolution, is to read one book per month. The rule is easy... I read a book every month. If I read more books per month I win. At this point I'm not interested in averaging a book a month, I literally will be reading one book a month,. I thought that since I'm reading books I should let you know what books they are. I don't know that I'll do actual book reviews, but I can at least share. I feel obligated to let you know you buy your book here I'll get a very small percentage of the sale price from the robots at Amazon. Here is my list for 2016:

I did it. Kind of. For the most part I read at least one book per month. Some I started from the front, others I picked up where I left off in the past, and still others I started one month and finished the next. In all I read/finished 17 books in 12 months. In addition I also (according to the Internet which is never wrong) listened to 21-23 audio books throughout the year.

I'll spare you the overall book reviews, but I'll share some favorites. For business related things I loved Joy, Inc, and The Ideal Team Player for how 'easy' they were to read. Scaling Up is also a fantastic book, although it took a little more attention for me to get through (I'm easily distracted). On the audio book side I thought Raising an Adult was a wonderful book on how making "Checklist Children" is more or less disabling our kids as they move from high school on to college and the "real world". The two military related books, The Mission, the Men and Me and Civilian Warriors were fantastic for their new perspective on armed conflict. Oh, and I can't leave out Unbroken which shared the depths of pain, torture, and psychological stress our Veterans have endured for our freedom.

For 2017 I'll try and continue this pace. I still have shelves of books to get through and I hear it is healthy to keep the brain active. Speaking of active... audio books are an amazing way to "read" while driving, working out, mowing the lawn, grocery shopping, or any other activity that would otherwise be mindless. I'd encourage those of you who don't have the time to sit down and read to find a way to listen instead.

Thanks for following, have a great 2017.
