$20 well spent
In the fall of 1993 my dad purchased a new lawn mower and it was awesome. A Troy-Bilt 33” self propelled behemoth. My parents didn’t believe in riding mowers so this was as good as it got. It had four speeds, reverse, and I’m pretty sure it had the power to knock down moles, rabbits, and even the neighborhood bully. Coincidently our neighborhood bully disappeared soon after we got the mower, but that’s a different story.
The epitome of lawn care.
Fast forward 25 years and I found myself in proud possession of this lawn care wonder once again. Having a fairly sizeable yard it was great to get the extra width over the 19” I had before. However, as time wears on the mower got slow and slower… turns out loose bolts and screws mean something. Recently the gear selection mechanism lost a bolt, and just didn’t work. That’s where my friends at Parts Tree came in.
PartsTree.com sells lawn mower parts. They have helpful schematics of all the major functions on the mower that help you easily find the parts you need. I spent a few minutes reviewing what I thought was missing and $20 later the parts were on their way.. A simple bolt and washer combo later my lawn mower is blazing fast again and cut my mowing time down by at least 10 minutes!
