Stupid is as Stupid Does

There is a big security flaw with Exchange Servers at the moment. I have a client who has an exchange server and I thought I’d fix it up for them quick a minute. After I returned home from 3.5 hours of Orchestra. After a full day of work. Certainly not going as expected.

I ran into an odd error about the installer not being able to find its own file. I’ve cried, thought about running away, but perhaps I just needed to run it as Administrator. As the Administrator… I’m hoping. I kind of want to go to sleep but this isn’t fast.

While I wait I’m getting the backup system ready to rock and roll in case I need to restore from a previous backup. Although at this point the installer has make it farther (stage 9/11 is a measurement therefor farther) than it has before. The problem is each step goes from 0%-100% and often times it just sits at 0% teasing. Mocking. Making things sweat. Sometimes I hate IT. Oh we are inching towards 100% on step nine.

The best part is I was going to do this quickly and not charge the client. Now I’m two hours in and things are not better off than when I started… ugh. If you’ve read this far you should really read this. Huntress are awesome guys and gals.

10/11 Finalizing Setup. A light at the end of the tunnel? Or a cruel joke?

Time for a pull up. I did one, minimal kipping. I think my door is going to break due to how I have the bar hung though. That will be a fun day when I need to fix that. This install has been going nearly 30 minutes. THE BAR IS MOVING wow did it stay at 10/11 and 0% for far too long. Oh no the setup disappear and I didn’t see the final message. I wonder what that means. OH the EAC opens again that is progress.

Huh… all the services are running but no mail is going through yet. I do have the final patch to apply and then a good restart is probably in order.

I think it is working. I also think that someday I’ll regret this awful stream of conscience with the one exception of linking to Huntress. They really are awesome.
