On the Eighth Day of Christmas Vacation
I ran six miles. Then I couldn’t move so well which is why I didn’t blog.
That and we just were too busy hitting the pool, walking to bagels, and getting to Guanabana’s and the Christmas lights before I passed out on the couch… ok more like watched Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
On the seventh day of christmas vacation
I got up to run with Kristi, but vacation is taking its toll. I’m exhausted and the kids, well a specific kid, is also feeling the hurt and acting out in ways that make the other kids irritable. Needless to say a joint run was out of the question as we didn’t know which kids might still be living when we returned :). Otherwise a good day. Swimming, beach art, and grandparent babysitting so Kristi and I could have a date at the Square Grouper. Neither of us had the fish…

On the Sixth day of Christmas vacation
Today was a bit of a bittersweet day. The 26th would have been the day we celebrated my Grandma’s birthday with a family breakfast in Grand Rapids somewhere, so instead we walked together to Einstein’s Bagel shop for our last breakfast with Aunt Sarah. After the bagel shop it was back to the room for a nap. The kids are working their tails off walking all around and the physical activity is starting to show. That and the late nights from September to now that they are recovering from.
Post nap was back to the beach for more wave fighting. Joshua was hilarious, all three and a half feet of him pretending to punch, kick, and butt slam the waves. He got knocked over a time or two, but always seemed to hope back up on his feet for more.
After the ocean and a quick dip at the pool it was time for dinner and a walk for Ice Cream. The kids ran around like they were hopped up on sugar. Maybe they were, at any rate after a show at home they were quickly off to dreamland.
On the Fifth Day of Christmas Vacation
Merry Christmas! It certainly wasn’t a white Christmas, but the wind was strong enough you might consider it to be a blustery day. If it weren’t 78+ degrees outside. The kids woke up on time, I mean why sleep in on Christmas morning, and got right into opening presents. Gifts included items from The New Hampshire cousins, Kayliegh, and books by daddy. I only wish Maddie and Ben were more effusive in their appreciated for their gifts…
After a few hours by the pool, lunch, and just in general bumming around we ended up at the ocean which just happened to have a riptide warning, 7-8’ swells, and a yellow flag. Or as I like to say, nearly perfect conditions. The ride was strong, but the kids did a great job of playing, safely anyway. They even ganged up and helped their little brother.
